Jamabandi is an important document in land and revenue records. It is also known as Fard ( फर्द ) and Parcha ( परचा ). But in normal language people know this as Jamabandi.
The Mughals and British had introduced and developed the revenue systems, land records, and revenue administration. The British further standardized procedures for land administration and revenue collection across the country. Urdu, Arabic, and Farsi terms were used in the Mughal, British, and post-independence (nineteenth century) eras for jamabandi and revenue records.
The new jamabandi format has replaced Urdu, Arabic, and Farsi terms with pure Hindi. So that people can understand easily the format language.
Department of Revenue , Government of Himachal Pradesh has issued the Notification No. REV-B-A(03)/28/2024 ,dated 31-01-2025 and recomeneded below given formats in Hindi and English.
