Distance allowed for construction from Khad and Nallah in Himachal Pradesh

After facing the flood related hazards in 2023 by Himachal Pradesh and lost many lives. Buildings and structures had flooded in rivers and lost crores of rupees. This was all due to unauthorized construct had been done on the bank of river and waterbody.

In keeping this natural disaster on view , The Government has issued the notification for manageable distance for construction activities from river , khad and nallah.

River – Main rivers in Himachal Pradesh such as Chenab, Ravi, Beas , Satluj, Yamuna etc.

Khad – Major tributary (Streams ) of river.

Nallah – Smaller streams are known as Nallah.

Exact definition ( i.e. River , Khad or Nallah ) of nearby waterbodies can get from concerned revenue office / Patwarkhana.

According to Gazette of Himachal Pradesh on dated 30/January / 2024 , Tuesday regarding the amendment of Appendix -1 ( No. TCP- A03/1/2023 ) Himachal Pradesh Town and Country Planning ( Eleventh Amendment ) Rules , 2024.

3. Amendment of Appendix -1 .

In Appendix -1 of the ‘said rules’ in serial number III of General Regulations –

(a) For regulation 16, the following regulation shall be substituted , namely –

“16. The construction shall be allowed at distance of 5.00 Metre and 7.00 Metre from Nallah and Khad respectively.
